As you are probably aware, Facebook will be undergoing even more changes to their interface. This time, they are a lot more noticeable than in the past and I am already preparing myself for the negativity to follow. If you dislike Facebook’s subtle changes, you are going to absolutely hate the new layout. I on the other hand kind of like it so far. Below are a couple of screenshots of what you can expect from Facebook in the upcoming weeks as they roll out their new Facebook profiles.
This first screenshot is the very top of your new Facebook profile. You can set your “cover” image which will act as a representation of who you are or what you enjoy. I chose a photo from a vacation to Texas. To the right, you will see a timeline. All of the years are clickable and will take you to that time of your life.
The second screenshot is after I scroll a little way down from the top of the page. Here you will see your recent activity, status updates, comments, etc. This is everything that would have normally displayed in the usual continuous profile feed. The timeline in the middle is all clickable and editable and here you can add milestones and other information.
The third screenshot is when I click on “Born” and this takes me all the way back to 1984. You can edit your photo and information here as well.
The overall feel of the new Facebook layout reminds me of Myspace in a way. After messing around with it for a little bit today, there is not much to get used to other than the overall look of the new profile pages. For now, the new Facebook pages are available to developers only and can be only be viewed from developer to developer.
What do you think of the new Facebook profile pages? How do you feel about the extent of the new changes?
