Freedom of Tweets: A Political Spin on Twitter

This July 4th marks 216 years since our Founding Fathers adopted the Declaration of Independence. The world as it will be on July 4, 2012 is completely different than the world as it was on July 4, 1776, and the most striking difference between then and now might be the way in which people communicate and interact with each other. The emblem of the United States is the bald eagle, but recently another bird has been getting a lot of attention: the small, blue Twitter bird. Millions of people use Twitter, including the majority of U.S. senators, representatives, and presidential candidates.

Twitter has officially arrived in Washington, D.C., and in the upcoming presidential election, we’ll see that politicians “hold these tweets to be self-evident.”
