In my previous blog post, I touched on some simple QR code possibilities. In this blog post, I am taking it a little bit further and talking about some cool marketing tips & tricks, all with using QR codes.
Populate Foursquare Check-Ins:
In my search for cool QR code generators, I stumbled across http://keremerkan.net/qr-code-and-2d-code-generator/. They give you a TON of options to personalize your QR code and some of the destinations are really neat. One of them that stood out to me and that I think could be of great benefit to certain industries is the Foursquare option. Foursquare has recently surpassed the 10 million user mark and only seems to be growing. Restaurants and almost any other brick and mortar business can utilize the Foursquare QR code on print material, decals, menus, etc. to push for Foursquare check-ins which is a great way to build your location’s popularity. You can easily tie this in to contests and specials and encourage users to spread the word even further.
Tweeting via QR Codes:
Social media is influencing organic search, CTR’s, and overall user decision making more and more. Using the same QR code generator as above, I came across the Tweet feature. With this, you have the option to generate a tweet via QR codes. Again, this can be a great feature for social media contests as well as populating @mentions and attempting to trend specific #hashtags.
Below is an example of the above idea. The QR code below will populate a tweet reading “I Love @mainstreethost”. As we continue to discover how social media influences search engine rankings, this could become quite useful.
Branding Through QR Codes:
If you are looking for catchy ways to build your brand, generating a branded QR code can compliment your efforts quite nicely. Now there is a lot you can do design wise with QR codes and I will not admit that I am an expert here, but using another FREE QR code generator, I was able to create a QR code with my company’s logo (see below).
Again, this is a great way to spread your company’s name, logo, and information in a fairly simple way. When people are on the go, you can still get your messages across to those that might have otherwise missed them.
I will continue researching new and exciting ways to engage your audience, deliver your information, and build your brand. Happy QR’ing!
