There has been word and studies in the past that Facebook “likes” and Twitter “tweets” have some sort of impact (how much?) on organic website rankings. With Google introducing their +1 feature, will the search giant use this data to determine a website’s rankings? How much weight will it have? These are all questions that website and business owners are scratching their heads over.
Most likely, Google will go through a period where they strictly collect and analyze the +1 data with absolutely no effect on organic placement. As time progresses, we predict that +1′s, likes and tweets will all work equally and play more into Google’s organic ranking algorithm.
With Google delving into the social world once again, this feature seems to be one that will stick around. So, do you have a solid social networking strategy in place? If so, how are you integrating +1 into that plan (or aren’t you)?
These are all questions that website owners will continue asking and researching for months to come. Stay tuned for more updates from Google and other search engine news!
